PART ONE:  AMISH COUNTRY

Come see the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside and meet some of the most fascinating people in America, the Amish.  The Amish still live as their families did hundreds of years ago when they first arrived in North America. They do not use electricity.  They are incredibly skilled at carpentry and farming, and build their own homes and barns.  We will visit the oldest Amish county and learn about Amish culture, see an Amish farm and schoolhouse and eat a meal with them in their home.

We will also go to the SIGHT and SOUND Theater to experience a unique live production in a 2,000-seat auditorium with a 300-foot stage that surrounds the audience on three sides and state-of-the-art technology – and live animals!

PART TWO:  PHILADELPHIA

Sunday we will go to Philadelphia (a one-hour drive) to visit the first capital of the United States. We will see the Liberty Bell that was rung out when the colonies won freedom from England, tour the building where the Declaration of Independence was written, walk on the oldest preserved street in the US, and visit Old Town with its many historic buildings that have been preserved to the time of George Washington. We will eat authentic Philly cheese steaks and view the waterfront and other famous places nearby.

Date:  8:00 AM Friday, May 26 to 8:00 PM Monday, May 29 (no school on Monday)
Cost:  $300.00 which includes transportation, 3 nights housing, some meals, Sight and Sound Theater ticket ($70 value), an Amish tour in a horse and buggy through the countryside, the Lancaster Central Market, dinner with an Amish family in their home, tour of Philadelphia Old Town.
